The Gold Coast Adventure Travel Group was created in 2004 to provide Gold Coast youth/adventure/backpacker operators with a focussed and coordinated means of growing members’ business.

The group is supported by Gold Coast City Council and Gold Coast Tourism and its members have reciprocal membership with Backpacking Queensland.

The overall objectives of the group include:

•	Growing the awareness of the Gold Coast to adventure/backpacker travellers.
•	Providing a focussed approach for all marketing efforts.
•	Providing way to communicate within the local backpacker industry.
•	Shifting the perception of the Gold Coast to something reflecting the entire area and all products. The overall mission is to lift the Gold Coast to a higher rank within popular Australian backpacker destinations – therefore ensuring more business for all.

By working together on the common goal all members will benefit. And as with any membership, it is up to each individual to maximise the outcomes they receive from the group.
