The local Surfside bus network (they’re the yellow one’s) is excellent, running regular services until midnight from Southport to Tweed Heads and everywhere in between, including all the major shopping centres – just pick up a timetable from the Surfers Paradise Transit Centre. Other options include taxi’s and frequent, air-conditioned trains to and from Brisbane and then it starts to get interesting. Proximity to the ocean means the Gold Coast is as flat as a pancake, so hire a bike or rollerblades and explore the stunning coastline for a day.
