Insider tips…
One of the ‘must do’ experiences when you visit Australia’s best surf beaches is to go surfing. Whether you’re a first timer or an experienced surfer the Gold Coast has the best waves and world champion instructors that will ensure you have the time of your life.
One the less known wonders of the Gold Coast is the calm waters of the Broadwater and South Stradbroke Island . Relaxing cruises or adrenalin pumping speed boat tours are a great way to experience this magical part of the world.
For the ultimate beach walk, take a stroll along the Oceanway . This 36km pathway stretches from Point Danger in the south to the Gold Coast Seaway in the north. For a fantastic ride cruising through the sand dunes along gravel paths, hire a mountain bike and head to Federation Walk on the Spit.
For the most happening beach on the Gold Coast, the place to be seen is Surfers Paradise. Check out the beach volleyball located at the beach end of Beach Road.
For a quieter, casual atmosphere catch a Surfside Bus south to Burleigh , Currumbin , Kirra and Coolangatta . Walk around the headlands through the Burleigh Heads National Park. Follow with a dip in the calm waters of Tallebudgera Creek – which is great for snorkelling too.
For a calm water dip, the Southport Broadwater swimming lagoon is the perfect answer. It’s located directly opposite at Australia Fair Shopping Centre in Southport.
Check out the lifeguards that patrol Gold Coast beaches. Remember: always swim between the red & yellow flags on patrolled beaches. More info
